Description

Druid Priestess
This priestess is preparing for the Blue Moon Esbat. This is held in honor of a goddess to invoke protection and other magical workings. She is casting a spell protecting her clan from the evil forces.

Not much is known of the Druids. They seem to appear out of nowhere and left very few written records. They are mentioned in many of the earliest writings as scholars and held high positions in many areas of the known world. They were identified in theses writings more so for their clothing than by a name. Their tasseled hats and robes were their main mark which is much like our modern day Wizard visual. What I have read they were one of the first that held women in High regard and the females held high positions of honor and power. Many of the wicca beliefs were held by the druids, and they honored our forests and nature, holding Mother Nature in high esteem.

In this image I placed a few Wicca items like the bowl of salt ,the goblet and knife, and a few symbols like the carved pentgram on the wood table and cast iron pot. The hardest part of this image was to make it a night scene and still have everyting visible especially a Black crow in the night sky. One thing I did learn is that there seems to be more light at night when light clouds are present with a bright moon. I hope you enjoy the image and I have a lot more to study and learn, the Druids are very mysterious.

I would like to thank for her great stock Gallery and for her lovely pose that made this image possible

we druids still exist. we were driven underground by the roman catholic church. however we pride ourselves on being the first religion to 1) consider all people equal regardless of there gender or social class and 2) the first to seek peace with those of other beliefs. i would like to thank you for noting that the symbols you used are Wiccan and not Druidic in orgin.
